Why Revoking Mint & Freeze Authority is Mandatory for Investor Trust

SOLANA DEVNET SPECIFICATIONVERIFIED GUIDE
In traditional software, administrator privileges are a safety feature. In decentralized finance, active administrator privileges are a vulnerability. Here is why revoking authorities matters so deeply.

1. The Danger of Retained Mint Authority

If Mint Authority is retained, the private key holder can invoke the Token Program to mint 10 billion additional tokens at any time, instantly diluting holders to zero value.

Revoking Mint Authority permanently sets the mint authority address to None on-chain. This makes the total supply strictly capped for eternity.

2. The Danger of Freeze Authority

Freeze authority allows a creator to freeze individual token accounts, blocking holders from selling or transferring tokens. Malicious honeypot contracts rely on this to trap buyer capital.

Revoking freeze authority ensures censorship resistance and permissionless peer-to-peer liquidity for every holder.
